we catch up with our hero as he is a single father trying to raise his two daughters Jennifer and Annissa. The atmosphere between black people and the police are close to boiling over in his city. Even with a friend in the police force named inspector Henderson he still gets harassed often by the cops. Jefferson in his youth was a star athlete, going to the olympic and winning in the decathlon. His local fame alone should keep the cops off his a** but the color of his skin puts white cops on edge.

On day his daughter goes clubbing at on the wrong side of the city and gets into trouble. He goes to rescue her and uses his powers to protect her. Thus making the thought dead tobias Whale on a hunt for the only man who can ruin his plans. Cress Williams gives a great performance of a man being pull back into a world which he left for a more peaceful existence. Episode one give a great introduction of his world and the people's vibes within it. Many characters interactions will surprise you. The musical score keeps pace with the action and the costume design is on par for all CW productions. The action is fast and (fast like lightning sorry I meant) electric. It's day tones are warm and friendly it's night tones are full of action and suspense. Black lightning seems like a mix of luke cage and first season of Arrow. The villains and threats are realistic and unpredictable. This episode was a great watch and can't wait to see more!

CNA gives Black Lightning a solid A for a great start.

We will revisit and grade the season once it is over.
